Simply Elfje coverThis fascinating short form poetry began life in The Netherlands where it was developed as a tool for teaching young children how to write poetry. The word ‘Elfje’ means ‘little elven poem’.

From these humble beginnings this 11 word short poem has developed into a verse form that can encapsulate a moment in time and turn the ordinary into the magical.

The book includes many of the Elfje from the ‘Simply Elfje’ blog by both the author and some of the blog contributors as well as some poems written more recently.

As far as the author is aware this is the only book of these little  Elfje poems currently available in English. Kindle e-book version to follow soon.

We can all relate to the poems and verse by Elizabeth Leaper and her late uncle Jack Williamson that make up this collection. With their subject matter deeply rooted in a common heritage, sense of place, people and the natural world the two parts complement each other perfectly. Often amusing and sometimes poignant, this collection is above all thoroughly readable.
